Eddy Current Testing

Eddy Current testing (also commonly seen as eddy current testing and ECT) is one of many electromagnetic testing methods used in nondestructive testing (NDT) making use of electromagnetic induction to detect and characterize surface and sub-surface flaws in conductive materials.

Our solution

AlphaNDT’s ECT can be used to detect defects in both ferrous and non-ferrous materials by inducing an eddy current field in the specimen under test. A variety of inspections can be performed with eddy current testing and it is typically used for surface and near-surface flaw detection, metal and coating thickness measurement, and metal sorting by grade and hardness.

Benefits

  • Sensitivity to surface defects.
  • Can detect through several layers.
  • Can detect through surface coatings.
  • Accurate conductivity measurements.
  • No consumable chemicals required.
  • Little pre-cleaning required.
  • Portability.
  • Reduce the risk of company liability with documented safety standards
  • AlphaNDT´s exclusive, one-stop shop services.
